Coming to Malta from Türkiye: the Maltese embassy, the D visa, hospitality and construction
Malta has an embassy in Türkiye. The Single Permit is the employer's application and cost. What Turkish workers do in Malta, the health screening, and the no-fee rule.

Turkish workers come to Malta for hospitality, construction, logistics and, with the languages, customer service. Malta has an embassy in Türkiye, which makes the visa step more direct than for most source countries. Everything else is the standard Single Permit: the employer applies and pays.
Where the visa comes from
Malta’s list of missions includes an Embassy of Malta in the Republic of Türkiye. Long-stay visa applications go through the mission or a visa application centre working for it, and the decision is made by the Central Visa Unit at Identità. Check the embassy’s own page for how it takes applications and whether a centre is used. Six to eight weeks after the approval in principle.
The jobs Turkish workers take here
Chefs and kitchen staff, restaurant and hotel work, construction and finishing trades, drivers and logistics, barbers and hairdressers, and customer service for Turkish-language accounts in gaming. Hospitality needs the Tourism and Hospitality Skills Pass. Hairdressers, construction workers and transport workers are included in the health screening since May 2026, whatever the country.
Documents
Qualifications for the Specialist Employee route (€30,000 and a degree or three years’ experience) must be recognised by MQRIC. A passport valid for more than eight months. Everything you upload is shown in original at biometrics in Malta.
Life here
Turkish communities are smaller than the South Asian ones and spread through the central towns and the office belt. Halal food and mosques are available; Malta’s main mosque is in Paola. English is the language of work.
The scam, Turkish version
“Malta iş vizesi” packages sold for thousands of euros, with a fake offer from a real company name and a deduction waiting in Malta. The visa through the mission costs a visa fee plus centre fees under €150; the permit is the employer’s €600. Anyone adding a fee to that is outside the process. Read never-pay-an-agent and verify-an-employer first.
The money
The minimum wage is €229.44 a week in 2026, about €994 a month. A room costs €450 to €700 a month. Run your own numbers in the salaries guide before you accept. A salary far above the ranges there is a red flag, not a prize.
What never happens
Nobody in Malta charges you for a job. Agencies here are licensed by DIER and commit an offence if they take money from an applicant. Employers may not take money from workers for recruitment. The permit fee is the employer’s. You pay the two official courses, your visa, your health tests and your flight, and nothing else.
