How we write these guides: sources, dates, corrections, and what we will not do
Every rule on this site is dated and linked to the official page. Ranges where no official figure exists, practices named and never companies, no money from agencies.
Updated 5 November 2026 · 3 min read
You are trusting these pages with decisions that cost you years and savings. So here is how they are made, where the numbers come from, and what we promise not to do.
Sources
Every figure that matters has a link to the official page it was read on: the Department for Industrial and Employment Relations for wages and conditions, Identità for permits, Jobsplus for employment, the tax administration for tax and social security, the health authority for screening, the Housing Authority for leases, Malta Public Transport for fares. Where we used a press report or a professional firm’s summary instead, because the official text was not published or not readable, the page says so and links the report.
Where no official figure exists, for rents, for typical salaries, for how long a bank takes, we give a range and say it is approximate and where it was taken from.
Where we could not verify a figure on the day of writing, we say “check the current figure at” and link the page to check.
Dates
Every guide carries the date it was last checked. Rules for non-EU workers in Malta have changed every few months since 2025, and the policy tracker lists each change with its date and source. A guide older than six months may be out of date; the date is there so you can judge.
Corrections
If a figure is wrong, write to us through the contact page with the page and the correct source. We check, correct, and note the change on the page. We do not quietly rewrite.
What we will not do
- Name companies in scam stories. We describe practices. A company name in a warning is defamation if we are wrong and a false sense of safety about every other company if we are right.
- Take money for placement. We are not an employment agency and will never be one. Nobody at this site is paid by an employer or an agency to put you forward. The site earns from the paid tier of the CV match tool, and that is the only money. Why you never pay an agent is on its own page.
- Give legal advice. These are guides to the rules and where they are written. Your case may differ. The who-helps-you guide lists the offices and organisations that handle cases.
- Sell certainty. Permit decisions take up to four months and are not ours to promise. Anyone who promises one is lying, including anyone claiming to be us.
Languages
Guides are written in English first and translated. The English version is the reference; where a translation and the English differ, the English and the linked official page decide. Each page shows “English” when you are reading the original because a translation is not yet ready.
Your data
A CV uploaded to the match tool is used to match you to live job ads and for nothing else. The privacy page states retention and your rights. We do not sell CVs, share them with agencies, or contact employers on your behalf without your action.
Who writes
Enigma Media Ltd, a Maltese company, with help from people who have been through the process. We are not a government body and not connected to Identità, Jobsplus or DIER. When in doubt, their page beats ours.

This guide is general information, not legal advice. Rules change. The official sources linked at the end are the final word.
Never pay anyone for a job in Malta. If someone asks for money, it is a scam. No agents →
