Coming to Malta from Morocco: the visa route, hospitality and construction, the documents

Malta has no embassy in Morocco: Identità's courier visa process (€300) or a VFS centre. What Moroccans do in Malta, the Skills Pass, legalised papers, the no-fee rule.

Moroccans work in Malta’s restaurants, hotels, construction and delivery, and French and Arabic open doors in customer service. Malta has no mission in Morocco, so the visa goes by courier through Identità. The permit is the employer’s application and cost.

Where the visa comes from

Malta has no embassy in Morocco. Identità’s premium process for countries without a Maltese mission applies: email the Central Visa Unit with your approval in principle, receive a token, upload documents, pay €300 covering all fees, send your passport by courier, receive the visa in six to eight weeks. Check VFS Global’s Malta pages in case a centre is listed for your country; we could not confirm one on an official page at the time of writing.

The jobs Moroccans take here

Chefs and kitchen staff, waiting and bar work, hotel housekeeping, construction and finishing trades, delivery riders, barbers, and French- or Arabic-language customer service in gaming and fintech. Hospitality needs the Tourism and Hospitality Skills Pass (€230) on top of the pre-departure course. Hairdressers, construction and delivery workers are screened in the health check whatever the country.

Documents

Degrees through MQRIC for the Specialist Employee route; marriage and birth certificates for family reunification legalised in Morocco and translated by a translator registered in Malta. Passport valid for more than eight months.

Life here

Maghrebi communities, Moroccan, Tunisian and Libyan, are concentrated in the harbour towns, Msida, Gżira and the central area. Halal food is easy to find; the main mosque is in Paola. Maltese shares many words with Arabic, which helps in shops; English is the language of work, and French is useful in gaming offices.

The scam, Moroccan version

“Contrat Malte” sold on Facebook for thousands of euros, fees for “dossier” and “visa”, a fake offer from a real restaurant. The real visa is €300 all-in through Identità’s courier process; the permit is the employer’s. Read never-pay-an-agent and verify-an-employer before you send a document or a dirham.

The money

The minimum wage is €229.44 a week in 2026, about €994 a month. A room costs €450 to €700 a month. Run your own numbers in the salaries guide before you accept. A salary far above the ranges there is a red flag, not a prize.

What never happens

Nobody in Malta charges you for a job. Agencies here are licensed by DIER and commit an offence if they take money from an applicant. Employers may not take money from workers for recruitment. The permit fee is the employer’s. You pay the two official courses, your visa, your health tests and your flight, and nothing else.
